Scored by Alexandre Desplat

Frequent Wes Anderson musical collaborator Alexandre Desplat returns to the big screen with a new score for Anderson’s French Dispatch. The French composer won an Oscar for Best Original Score for his songs in The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014). He has also provided music for other Anderson films like Moonrise Kingdom and The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Anderson’s films are memorable because they are able to bring together fun storytelling with fantastic visuals and enjoyable songs. Anderson’s long time musical advisor, Randall Poster, has helped Anderson find the perfect music for his films. For Rushmore Poster and Anderson wanted to use music from British bands like The Who, The Creation, and The Faces.

The Royal Tenenbaums featured the Mutato Muzika Orchestra’s unique rendition of “Hey Jude” and Nico’s haunting version of “These Days.” In The Life Aquatic, the songs of David Bowie like “Space Oddity” and “Life on Mars” are covered by Brazilian musician Seu Jorge. You can count on the Wes Anderson Experience to be a treat for the eyes and the ears.

Composer and conductor Alexandre Desplat leads the Symphonic Orchestra of Barcelona at L’Auditori. (Soundtrack Fest)
