Spirit Week: Halloween

Join us at the Halloween Dance on Thursday @ 3pm

The first dance of the year was held in the Garvey Gym and organized and set up by ASB, ASB advisor Ms. Herbert, Ms. McDonald and numerous volunteers and staff. Over 300 tickets were sold in three days. Students submitted the required parent permission slip form to Ms. McDonald during ticket sales. On Thursday students checked in at 3pm and left their backpacks in one of the portables. They were allowed to bring their cellphones inside of the gym. Actual dancing began after students ate pizza and refreshments. Students had fun participating in a conga line, line dancing, and keeping rhythm to their favorite songs. The dance was chaperoned primarily by seventh-grade teachers. The music stopped at 4:20 pm and students were sent to retrieve their backpacks and leave the campus.

On Tuesday morning members of the ASB Council used their rubrics to evaluate and score the homeroom classes participating in the door decorating contest. The winners were Mr. Naka #1 (bat cave), Ms. U #2 (Michael Meyers), and Mr. Navarrette #3 (Ghostbusters). Ms. Tang-Quick was fourth and no other classes at Garvey participated in the door decoration contest. A number of students were recognized in the Garvey Theater for wearing creative Halloween costumes. Costume contest judges included: Ms. Venegas, Ms. Dale, Ms. U, Ms. G. Tang, and Mr. Naka.
